Tami Michele D.O.
Dr. Tami Michele was born in Grand Rapids, MI, and has been a Doula, Childbirth Educator, Prenatal Fitness Instructor, midwife assistant and mom of 4 children before attending medical school at MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine. She is active at the State and National levels, working with organizations to improve maternity services, and to increase safety and quality in obstetrics. She was appointed by the Governor to the Michigan Board of Licensed Midwifery, and has served on the Michigan ACOG Advisory Council. She is also working to safely reduce the cesarean section rate in Michigan hospitals as an Advisory Committee member with the Obstetrics Initiative of the Michigan Value Collaborative. Her work with MI AIM has increased safe obstetrical practices in Michigan hospitals for hemorrhage and hypertension management.
Tami was an invited delegate to the national Home Birth Summit where she serves on the Collaboration Task Force to promote respectful access to medical services for home birth families, and has co-authored documents used by hospitals and midwives nationally and internationally. Additionally, she is committed to educating her patients on birth options after cesarean and helping women to create their individual birth plan. She participated in developing patient and provider education modules available on a national website for women seeking advice on VBAC. Her professional focus also includes gentle cesarean with immediate skin-to-skin contact with the baby, and using a shared decision-making approach for all medical and surgical options for both obstetrics and gynecological procedures.
With Advanced OB-GYN she provides consultations for evaluation and treatment of abnormal uterine bleeding, pelvic pain, contraception, abnormal pap, well women visits, and procedures such as colposcopy, LEEP, hysteroscopy, polypectomy, and endometrial ablation. When not working, Tami enjoys her grandchildren, traveling with the husband, refinishing furniture, and enjoying nature through flower gardening and being outside.
